My Interests

I have many interests. I like playing the piano. It makes beautiful music. I also enjoy dancing. Dancing is so much fun. I love reading books. I can go to different worlds in books. I like drawing pictures, too. I can show my imagination on paper. These interests make my life interesting.

The Importance of Interests

Any kind of interest contains a natural tendency and may even contain a flash of genius in its primitive state. I like reading for three reasons. First of all, books introduce me to a new world, which is colorful and without time and space limits. Through reading, I can trace back to ancient Egypt, the cradle of human civilization. It can bring me to the United States, a glamorous land I have been longing to visit. Secondly, reading can better myself by showing me a new horizon. In the past few years, most of my knowledge has been obtained from books. I have learned from many people by reading about their ideas on science, politics, life, and society. Thirdly, reading bridges the gap between me and others.

My Changing Interests

I used to spend a lot of time playing computers when I was young and didn't think reading was interesting. But now, my interests have changed. I enjoy reading novels because there are lots of interesting stories. I love to read Harry Potter. That's a good novel. I know that it is one of the best-sellers in England. I always lose myself in the interesting stories. I hate the words like "to be continued" in a novel.

The Impact of Interests

It's well known that interest plays an important role in one's life. Bill Gates, the richest man in the world, regards reading as his favorite hobby. Hobbies not only make our life colorful but also bring us lots of benefits. Hobbies help us to relax after a long period of hard work and offer various activities for the people who are retired. As to my mother, her hobby is to go square dancing after supper. She said, square dancing can make her forget her own problems and stay in good health. As to my father, his hobby is reading. I think reading makes my life complete. I will keep on reading. That's my favorite hobby.

The Diversity of Interests

It's normal that we all have our own interests and it's various from people to people. Some people may be interested in sports and some others in music or literature. In short, it's good for us to have our own interests or hobbies and it means a lot. For one thing, having some interests can bring us a sense of belonging, for it's your own thing and no one can carry off from you. For another, interest is our best teacher. If you like something, you have the desire to go deep to it. Last, developing interest is a good way to make friends with who have something in common. You can share and be shared, which is an inspiring process.
